DOST SEI Scholarships 2023

There are two types of Scholarship programs under DOST SEI Scholarship 2023 which are as follows

DOST SEI Merit Undergraduate Scholarships

The DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program, previously known as the NSDB or NSTA Scholarship under RA No. 2067, provides Scholarships to students who have a strong aptitude for science and mathematics and aspiring to work in the technological and scientific fields.

RA 7687 – Science and Technology Scholarship Act, 1994

The “Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 1994,” also known as RA 7687 (Republic Act No. 7687), offers scholarships to outstanding and meritorious students whose families’ financial situation does not exceed specified cutoff values of particular indicators. Candidates must choose one of the following priority areas of study: engineering, other applied sciences, education of science and mathematics, basic sciences (see courses list below)

Qualifications for DOST SEI Scholarship 2023

Following are the qualifications required to apply for DOST SEI Scholarship

  • He / She must be graduating Grade 12 male and female students in SY 2022-2023 in
    • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
    • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the graduating class, if belonging to the Non-STEM strand
  • Graduate of Grade 12 before SY 2022-2023 and did not enroll in college yet:
    • STEM STRAND: All students belonging to the STEM class
    • NON-STEM STRAND: Must be in the top 5% of the graduating class, if belonging to the Non-STEM strand
    • Graduate of high school before the K-12 Program. Must belong to the top 5% of the graduating class.
  • He / She must have grades in Grades 9, 10, and 11.
    • The scores in the Philippine Education Placement Test Certificate of Rating is acceptable if you skip a grade.
  • He / She must be natural-born Filipino citizen.
  • He / She must be of good moral character and in good health.
  • He / She may have taken the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination but did not qualify for the scholarship; OR may have qualified for the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail of the award.
  • He / She must NOT have earned any post-secondary (college or vocational) units.

The documents required to Apply for DOST Undergraduate Scholarship are

  • Birth Certificate
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character
  • Certificate of Good Health
  • Certificate from the Principal
  • Certificate of Residency
  • DOST-SEI Scholarship Examination/Award
  • Applicant’s Certification of No Post-Secondary Units
  • Signed Declaration of Applicant and the Parent/Legal Guardian

What are DOST SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Benefits

Regular Academic Year Scholar Benefits:

  • Actual Fees upto ₱40,000.00 /AY – Tuition and other school fees (for scholars enrolled in private HEIs)
  • ₱10,000.00 / AY – Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance
  • ₱7,000.00 / month – Monthly Living Allowance
  • ₱1,000 (1st Sem of 1st Year only) – Clothing Allowance
  • ₱10,000.00 – Thesis Allowance
  • ₱1,000.00 – Graduation Allowance
  • 1 Economy-class roundtrip fare – Transportation Allowance (for those studying outside of home province)
  • Premium Group Accident and Health Insurance

Mid-Year Term Allowance (if required in the curriculum) – Same as Summer Term/Intersession

  • Actual Fees upto ₱10,000.00 – Tuition and other school fees
  • ₱2,000.00 – Learning Materials and/or Connectivity Allowance
  • ₱7,000.00 / month – Monthly Living Allowance for two months

Application Timeline for DOST SEI Undergraduate Scholarship 2023

The Application Timeline for DOST SEI Undergraduate Scholarship 2023 is as follows:

  • Online Application starts on September 19, 2022
  • The Deadline for DOST SEI Undergraduate Scholarship is December 2, 2022

Qualifying Examinations will take place on March 11 and 12, 2023. If there is an emergency due to COVID 19, the conduct of the pen and paper examination may be cancelled. In this event, proper communication will be sent to the Applicant’s registered email address.

How to Apply for DOST Scholarship Step by Step

You can Apply for DOST SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Online in the following steps:

  • Step 1: Register using a valid e-mail address. An email will be sent to you for verification.
  • Step 2: Answer the questions in the Eligibility Module that can be accessed to the link provided in the email sent to you.
    • If you are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for the scholarship, you will receive a Notice of Disqualification in your email.
  • Step 3: If you are ELIGIBLE to apply for the scholarship, you can proceed to the next modules:
    • Personal Data
    • Contact Information
    • Family Data
    • Financial Contribution
    • Household Information Questionnaire
    • School and Grades
    • Upload Required Documents
  • Step 4: Make sure that you have accomplished all the modules completely with true information and correct spellings and uploaded all the required documents before you press the SUBMIT button. You can no longer make any change in the information you provided in your application once submitted.
  • Step 5:
    • Selection of Test Center Location
    • Only the successful applicants will be able to select their test center location preference; whether it is near the permanent address, current address, or school address. This preference will be the basis on the location where you will be assigned to take the qualifying examination.
    • You can no longer make changes in your test center location preference once submitted, so it is important that you really take into consideration your possible whereabouts on the date of the examination.
